Northbound Turnpike in Indian River Co. reopens after wreck

Traffic is moving again on the Turnpike after a crash that briefly shut down all northbound lanes in Indian River County.

By 8 a.m., Florida511 indicated both lanes of the highway near mile marker 173, which is where the highway wraps around the Fort Drum Wildlife Management area, between Yeehaw Junction and Orange Avenue, had reopened.

The wreck happened around 5:15 a.m. and at least one person was injured, according to the agency’s traffic map. Initially, both northbound lanes were closed and remained so into the six o’clock hour. Officials were able to get the first lane reopened around 6:15 a.m.; however, traffic was still moving slowly at that time.

No other details about the wreck have been released.
