Ocala man shoots girlfriend and hides gun in I-75 overpass, officers say

Officers arrested a man they say shot his girlfriend last Saturday in Ocala.

Donald Roberts Jr., 36, faces charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

Ocala Police Department officers say Roberts chased his girlfriend on the second floor of the Motel Six on Northwest Blitchton Road and then shot her in the back.

Officers say they later found Roberts and a revolver hidden at a nearby I-75 overpass.

The girlfriend was taken to the hospital for treatment.
