On Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025, around 1:30am, the Sarasota Police Department responded to the intersection of Fruitville Road and Golden Sands Drive after calls came in about a vehicle traveling east bound on Fruitville Road at a high rate of speed.
The vehicle had left the roadway and collided with a power pole and retention pond.
The driver, a 31-year-old male, was pronounced dead at the scene.
