On Monday morning, a multiple-vehicle accident in Calhoun County left one dead and another critically injured.
The crash happened at about 8:00 am and involved a 61-year-old Marianna man, a 48-year-old Blountstown man, and a 57-year-old Lakeland man.
Authorities said the Marianna man was driving northbound on State Road 71 when he attempted to make a right turn, which resulted in his trailer filled with logs spilling onto the southbound lanes.
The front of this vehicle collided with the vehicle of the Blountstown man.
The last vehicle attempted to steer away from the two initial vehicles and came into contact with the logs in the roadway, this driver did not sustain any injuries.
The 61-year-old Marianna man has died and the Blounstown man has critical injuries, according to officials.
The Florida Highway Patrol was assisted on the scene by Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, Calhoun County EMS, Gulf County EMS, Scotts Ferry Fire Department, and Survival Flight 21.
