One killed, several injured in head on collision in Holmes County

The Florida Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash on Highway 179 on Wednesday night.

According to a news release, the incident happened at 8:30 p.m. involving an 80-year-old man and a 35-year-old passenger in an SUV both from Westville. They were traveling Northbound on Highway 179 when they crossed the Southbound lane.

Troopers said the SUV hit a car head-on driven by a 40-year-old woman of Caryville with a 15-year-old passenger. They both sustained minor injuries.

After hitting the car the SUV continued traveling southbound hitting a pickup truck head-on.

Inside the pickup truck were two 32-year-old Bonifay residents and four children between the ages of 2 and 15 years old, troopers wrote.

All six individuals in the truck were seriously injured.
