A woman died after she was involved in an accident while driving a moped in Myrtle Beach on Wednesday morning, according to Horry County Deputy Chief Coroner Tamara Willard.
The crash happened at 6:45 a.m. on Kings Highway at 12th Avenue South. The moped driver, Lisa Gallow, 56, was brought to the Grand Strand Medical Center and died from her injuries at 7:26 a.m., the coroner’s office said.
Myrtle Beach Police Cpl. Chris Starling said one person was arrested and charged with no valid driver’s license and failing to yield right of way. Starling did not share the name of the person, however, Francisco Javier Duran Mejia, 35, was listed on the police department’s online bulletin as being arrested on charges that match the time and location of the accident.
The Myrtle Beach Police Department is investigating the crash. The Sun News has requested the related police reports.
