Orlando man killed in rear-end crash on Orange Blossom Trail in Orange County

An Orlando man was killed and another man was injured early Monday in a rear-end crash on Orange Blossom Trail in Orange County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 12:20 a.m. near Hunter’s Creek Boulevard.

According to a crash report, a 2025 Volkswagen Atlas was speeding south on OBT and failed to stop for a 2012 Mazda 3 that was stopped at a traffic signal.

The Volkswagen collided with the back of the Mazda, troopers said.

The two drivers were taken to the hospital, where the driver of the Mazda, a 55-year-old Orlando man, was pronounced dead.

The Volkswagen driver, a 56-year-old Texas man, had serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Southbound lanes of OBT were being redirected to eastbound Hunter’s Creek Boulevard but all lanes later reopened before 7 a.m.

An investigation is ongoing.
