Over 100 gallons of diesel spilled in RV, semi-truck crash with serious injuries

Five people were injured after a serious RV and semi-truck crash in Stuart on Friday morning.

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) said the crash occurred on 96th Street, off SW Kanner Highway near the Sunoco Gas Station.

Martin County Fire Rescue said five people were injured from the crash. One person was airlifted to a hospital in serious condition, while four other has minor injuries.

Photos of the scene show damage to both vehicles.

Additionally, the crash caused diesel fuel cells to rupture, spilling over 100 gallons of fuel onto the roadway, causing aHazmat response from Martin County Fire Rescue.

The southbound lanes are shut down for the time being while clean-up efforts and an investigation are being conducted, the sheriff’s office said. Drivers are asked to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
