A woman from Riviera Beach is accused of reckless endangerment following two separate cases of Pit bull attacks — one involving a 6-year-old girl and her parents.
The Riviera Beach Police Department (RBPD) said A N W was arrested on December 29, following two separate dog attack incidents involving her pet Pit bulls. The attacks resulted in severe injuries to multiple victims and led to W’s arrest for neglect, reckless endangerment, and failure to comply with animal control orders.
The first incident occurred on December 19 near W’s home at 1567 W. 24th Court, according to RBPD. A family of three was attacked by three Pit bulls while entering their own home. The mother sustained severe injuries to the right upper arm, and her 6-year-old daughter suffered a bite mark on the right upper thigh and scratches on both cheeks. The husband was unharmed.
Animal Care and Control was notified of the attack, and a plan was implemented to keep the dogs inside the home until further assessment, according to RBPD.
The second alleged attack took place on December 29, at the same address. A friend of W’s was attacked by approximately five to six dogs while arriving at the residence to pick her up, according to police. The victim suffered multiple lacerations and puncture wounds, causing her to bleed heavily, which required staples to close. Riviera Beach Fire Rescue transported the victim to St. Mary’s Medical Center for treatment.
As a result of the second attack, Animal Care and Control seized three dogs involved in the first incident.
The 39-year-old was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail for multiple counts, including neglect, reckless endangerment, failure to comply with an animal control order, and violation of local leash laws.
The incidents serve as a reminder of the potential dangers posed by unrestrained animals and the legal consequences of failing to control them.
