Panama City Beach man re-arrested in fatal Front Beach Road accident

The man accused of killing a Missouri visitor Friday night on Front Beach Road is back in jail.

State troopers originally arrested 39-year-old Casey Rattan Friday night charging him with DUI manslaughter in the death of 28-year-old Thomas Lyon.

Lyon and his family were in town celebrating his and his wife Makenzie’s 1st wedding anniversary. They were married in Panama City Beach last year. The couple had also just found out she was pregnant.

Witnesses said Rattan was speeding down Front Beach Road as the family was crossing the street. Thomas Lyon pushed 3-children out of the way just before the car hit him.

Rattan is from Panama City Beach.

He posted a $250,000 bond Saturday and was released from the Bay County Jail. Troopers re-arrested him Monday evening on vehicular homicide charges.

The judge released him on his own recognizance on the new charge.
