Pedestrian dies after being struck by SUV near Maitland

A 77-year-old Orlando man died after being hit by an SUV just north of Maitland, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 8:49 a.m. on U.S. 17-92 at Lakewood Circle, troopers said.

According to a preliminary FHP crash report, a 2024 Kia Sportage being driven by a 32-year-old Orlando woman struck the man, who was taken to AdventHealth Altamonte Springs and pronounced dead. The Orlando woman was not injured in the crash and remained at the scene, the report states.

FHP is still investigating.
