A pedestrian died after being struck Monday evening by a tractor-trailer in Lake County, according to a news release.
Leesburg police said the fatal crash happened around 7:30 p.m. near the intersection of U.S. 27 and C.R. 48.
According to the release, an international tractor-trailer driven by a 34-year-old Davenport man was traveling south on U.S. 27 when it “collided with a pedestrian.”
Police said the victim, identified as a 34-year-old Leesburg man, was struck while trying to cross U.S. 27. The man was airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center where he later died, officials said.
The crash remains under investigation, police said.
