A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Brightline train in Deerfield Beach, authorities said.
Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue units responded to the scene of the crash near the 1500 block of South Dixie Highway, along the FEC railroad tracks, at around 4 p.m., Wednesday.
Upon arrival, first responders learned an individual had been struck by the Brightline train. The individual was pronounced dead at the scene.
Aerial footage from 7Skyforce showed multiple BSO vehicles at the scene, along with the stopped train on the tracks.
As a result of the incident, Northeast 54th Street is blocked at Dixie Highway.
BSO’s Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
