An 18-year-old was arrested Friday after authorities said he struck and killed a man who was walking on the side of a road in Brooksville and then drove off.
The crash happened around 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 27 on Lenox Boulevard, near Ruby Falls Court, according to a report by the Florida Highway Patrol.
C J G, of Spring Hill, was reportedly traveling south in a BMW 528i when he struck the 68-year-old pedestrian from Brooklyn, New York.
Troopers said G continued driving but eventually stopped on Maybelle Drive at Lenox Boulevard.
The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital, but later died due to his injuries, officials reported.
G and two passengers in his vehicle, ages 19 and 20, were uninjured.
Troopers said G was arrested and booked into the Hernando County Jail for leaving the scene of a fatal crash and attaching an unassigned license plate to the vehicle.
