Pedestrian killed in Lake Worth after being struck by truck, run over by car

A 46-year-old man was killed Friday night after deputies say he was struck by a car and dragged on 10th Ave. N in Lake Worth.

According to a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) traffic report, at 9:40 p.m., the pedestrian, John Branco was walking southbound from a gas station at 2201 10th Ave. N and crossed the street in the path of an oncoming pickup truck.

The pickup truck swerved left in an attempt to avoid Branco, however, deputies say the truck’s passenger side mirror struck him, sending him to the ground.

When responding units arrived, they pronounced Branco deceased at the scene as a result of his injuries.
