Pedestrian struck, killed in Collier County Sunday evening

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating after a pedestrian was struck and killed on Rattlesnake Hammock Road Sunday evening.

Troopers, along with the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the scene around 7:30 p.m.

According to FHP, a 46-year-old Lehigh Acres woman was driving east on Rattlesnake Hammock Rd, approaching Collier Boulevard, on the outside left turn lane.

The pedestrian, a 71-year-old man from Margate, was reportedly walking south across the eastbound lanes of Rattlesnake Hammock Rd when he was struck by the car.

Troopers said the man was critically injured and taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Florida Highway Patrol this crash remains under investigation.
