A 57-year-old man is not expected to live after being struck by a Jeep while walking across a road in Lantana.
The Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) traffic report stated that on Saturday at 9:22 p.m., a 27-year-old man was driving a Jeep SUV westbound in the outside lane of Hypoluxo Road near the Family Dollar store when a pedestrian began to cross the street.
PBSO reported that the man walking did not yield to the Jeep, which caused the front of the car to strike him.
The driver fled the scene without checking on the man he had just hit, according to investigators.
The pedestrian was transferred to St. Mary’s Medical Center with critical injuries, and officials reported that his survival is unlikely.
