Pensacola woman hit and killed by car while crossing Highway 29 with walker

A 58-year-old Pensacola woman was hit and killed by a vehicle while crossing Highway 29 in Escambia County Monday evening.

It happened around 5:15 p.m. on Highway 29 at the intersection of Carolyn Way.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the woman was crossing Highway 29, mid-block, using her walker when she was hit by a a 63-year-old Pensacola man driving south in a 2013 Lexus.

Troopers say the woman had on dark clothing in a darkly lit area at the time. She was transported to the hospital in critical condition, but died from her injuries a short time later.

The driver of the Lexus was not injured.

No further details were released.
