Person injured in drive-by shooting in Northwest Jacksonville, police say

A person was shot multiple times late Monday night on New Kings Road just north of Moncrief Road West in Northwest Jacksonville, police said.

Officers were called at 11:49 p.m. Monday and found the person with several gunshot wounds to their chest and stomach.

Police did not give the age or gender of the victim, who was taken to a local hospital by paramedics.

Detectives investigating the scene found that the victim was standing near a roadway on New Kings Road when a dark-colored sedan appeared and someone inside fired several times before the car sped away.
