Pickup truck crashes through fence in Escambia County after driver falls asleep at wheel

A pickup truck crashed into a fence early Tuesday morning in Escambia County after the driver fell asleep at the wheel, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

It happened around 3:45 a.m. on Memphis Ave. and Houston Ave.

“The driver of the pickup truck fell asleep behind the wheel and failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway,” FHP says in a release. “As a result, the vehicle ran off the roadway and collided with a fence and a shed.”

The driver of the truck — a 43-year-old Pensacola man — was not injured.

No further details were released.
