A 19-year-old motorcyclist was left in critical condition after a pickup truck driver left the scene of a crash Thursday in Clay County, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.
The motorcyclist was driving in the southbound right lane of Blanding Boulevard when a Chevrolet Silverado in the left turn lane attempted to turn onto Parkwood Drive.
FHP said the 28-year-old pickup truck driver failed to yield to the motorcyclist while turning, causing the 19-year-old to crash into the right side of the pickup truck.
The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital in life-threatening condition.
The pickup truck driver and an 18-year-old passenger were uninjured, troopers said.
After the crash, FHP said the pickup driver ran off from the scene. Clay County deputies tracked him down and arrested him. He is now charged with leaving the scene of a crash with serious injuries and driving without a license.
