Pinellas County daycare worker accused of child abuse: Clearwater Police Department

An employee at a daycare center was arrested for child abuse on Friday after a child allegedly sustained a bruised eye while under her watch.

According to an affidavit, AD, 42, was at the daycare facility where she worked on Feb. 5th when the child began to cry.

At the time the child was lying on his stomach when police said D grabbed him by the left arm and aggressively flipped him onto his back before throwing him again onto his stomach.

The action caused the child to hit his eye against the side of the cot which was covered in a mesh material that, police said, left a pattern imprinted on the child’s face.

D then placed a toy under the child’s face and shoved his head into it facedown, according to police, who said a surveillance video captured the incident.

It was noted in the affidavit that the child had no reported marks on him before attending daycare.

The Clearwater Police Department arrested D and charged her with child abuse.
