Police: 1 dead after shooting in Tarpon Springs; multiple suspects at large

One person was killed, and multiple suspects were at large following a shooting in Tarpon Springs Monday night.

Officers with the Tarpon Springs Police Department said they received reports of a shooting at an apartment complex on Starlight Cove around 8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 20.

Once at the complex, police found a person that was unresponsive and began administering first aid. The person was then taken to HCA Florida Bayonet Point Hospital. Authorities said the person died from their injuries while at the hospital.

The police department was withholding the victim’s identification Monday night as officers worked to notify the individual’s next of kin.

Authorities said they were still in the “beginning phases” of the investigation Monday.

As of 10:40 p.m., multiple suspects remained at large. However, police said the shooting appeared to be an “isolated incident” and that there was no further threat to the public.
