‘The subject name is not being released at this time as investigation continues,’ detectives confirmed
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Police are investigating after they said a woman was fatally shot outside of an apartment complex in Miami Gardens Tuesday morning.
Miami Gardens police confirmed that officers discovered a Black woman, who they identified Wednesday as 27-year-old Chavely Acanda, was killed after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds outside the Oak Enclave apartment complex just after 7 a.m. near the 2300 block of Northwest 167th Street.
Crime scene tape stretched across a large section of the parking lot as investigators combed the area for evidence
A Local 10 News crew captured footage of Acanda’s body being covered by a tarp while officers questioned individuals at the gated complex
Neighbors shared that they saw Acanda lying on the ground as they headed to their cars.
“It’s crazy,” said Drew, a Pennsylvania native who has lived in the community for six months. “It’s definitely concerning; it doesn’t make me feel safe.”
Police are still working to determine the exact location of the shooting, though Acanda’s body was found within the apartment complex. The medical examiner later arrived to remove her body.
Investigators also confirmed Wednesday that “the subject’s name is not being released at this time as the investigation is ongoing.”
