A Palm Beach Gardens police chase took a dramatic turn late Thursday night when the fleeing Mercedes went off an I-95 ramp and landed on another vehicle, the city’s police department confirmed.
The driver of the Mercedes had already fled from a traffic stop once that night, when an officer tried pulling him over near the PGA Blvd. and Military Trail intersection, the Palm Beach Gardens Police Department (PBGPD) reported. Officers spotted the vehicle later in the night heading south on Alternate A1A, near Florida Blvd., and tried laying down stop strips in an effort end the pursuit, PBGPD explained.
The Mercedes veered onto the southbound I-95 ramp, but the driver could not keep the vehicle on the ramp, and it toppled off the road, the report continued, adding that the luxury vehicle came crashing down onto another vehicle traveling along PGA Blvd.
No serious injuries were reported in the incident. The police department said the suspected driver of the Mercedes, who was identified as a juvenile, was taken into custody.
