Police: Pedestrian struck, killed on Ortiz Avenue after release from Lee County Jail

Fort Myers police are investigating after a pedestrian was struck and killed by two cars on Ortiz Avenue shortly after being released from the Lee County Jail.

Officers said the victim had just been released from the Lee County Jail which sits along Ortiz Ave, near SR-82 and I-75.

FMPD said the victim was attempting to cross the road when they were hit by two cars.

Officers said the victim was pronounced dead on the scene.

A victim has not been identified at this time. This is an ongoing investigation.
