Police provided an update on the three dogs who were left for dead in a wooded area in Port St. Lucie.
The Port St. Lucie Police Department (PSLPD) said four dogs were abandoned on July 10 at a spot along Northwest FPL Drive. After the dogs were dumped, police noted in the video the dogs chased after the SUV that left them.
By the time help got to the dogs, one of the pups had already died. The other three dogs have been taken in by animal control.
On Friday, PSLPD had new details on the surviving dogs’ conditions. All three dogs are still together, doing well, putting on weight — and best of all — in good spirits.
The video shows how much the dogs’ conditions improved. Their tails wagging excitedly as they jump at the camera.
No details have been released on whether these dogs will be put up for adoption soon as the investigation remains ongoing. The suspect vehicle is described as a white Pontiac Vibe.
Anyone with information about what happened or about the SUV is asked to call Detective Zamfino at 772-871-5230. Anonymous tips can be made to Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 800-273-8477. If your tip leads to an arrest you may receive a cash reward of up to $5,000.
