A school bus driver was arrested Thursday by City of Miami police after authorities said he abused a 6-year-old boy who rides the bus after his own daughter tried to start a fight with the victim.
According to an arrest report, the incident occurred the afternoon of Nov. 20 in the 2400 block of Northwest Seventh Street.
Police said they interviewed the victim, who was “very articulate” and was able to “differentiate between the truth and a lie.”
According to the report, the victim told police that L T’s 6-year-old daughter also rides the bus and tried to get in a fight with him so his older sister stepped in the way to separate them.
But the victim said T, 34, then grabbed him by the hair and told him never to touch his daughter.
The victim said in the past, the bus driver also encouraged other children to bully him, including during an incident where the boy was slammed on the ground by another student, which resulted in him hitting his head on the floor of the school bus.
According to the report, the victim’s 10-year-old sister was also interviewed, and gave the same account as her brother, saying T’s daughter had gotten into her brother’s face so she separated them to protect her brother.
The girl, who also witnessed her brother being body slammed by bigger children on the bus during a previous incident, told police that Treminio told her not to tell her parents what happened.
Police said T was arrested Thursday after being pulled over in his vehicle.
He faces two counts of child abuse without great bodily harm.
As of Friday afternoon, Treminio remained held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $7,500 bond.
The police report did not disclose which school the children involved attend, nor the company Treminio works for.
