Police: Sweetwater woman tried to stab, choke daughter following argument

Police have arrested a Sweetwater woman who they said attempted to choke and then stab her daughter following an argument on Monday afternoon.

Sweetwater police said the incident occurred just before 2:15 p.m. at their home near the 11000 block of Southwest Seventh Street.

The victim told police that she and her mother, 56-year-old E I S were arguing over “family issues” when it escalated into a fight.

Police said the argument turned physical when S “threw a cloth at the victim, grabbed her by the neck, and attempted to choke her.”

S then “went to the kitchen, retrieved a knife, and charged at the victim with it in hand.”

The victim told police that she then kicked S in self-defense.

Detectives said there is video evidence of the incident that was recorded on the victim’s Ring camera, which she showed them through her cellphone.

S was arrested at the scene and transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where she faces one count each of domestic battery by strangulation and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

As of Wednesday, she remains at TGK, where her bond was listed as “to be set.”
