A man and a woman stand accused of recently trying to kill a man who collapsed along the street while bleeding in Miami’s Little Havana.
According to a police report signed by Detective Ti’Andre Bellinger, the woman was Jennifer “Tata” Montenegro and the man was Daniel “Pollo” Jimenez. They both have a history of cocaine possession and were both attempted murder suspects.
On Saturday, Montenegro, 35, was at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, and Jimenez, 52, was at the Metrowest Detention Center. According to the report, the attempted murder was on Sept. 27 near Flagler Sreet and Southwest 17 Avenue.
Here is how Bellinger described the exchange the victim reported having with the duo:
“Oh! You guys are going to rob me again,” the victim said, while he was on his white electric bicycle.
Montenegro allegedly accused the victim of “being a snitch!”
Jimenez allegedly said, “That bike is going to be mine!”
According to Bellinger’s report, Jimenez pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim “from behind” and Montenegro “flinched” at the victim “with an open hand” — before the duo stole his electric bicycle. The victim “attempted to walk home until he collapsed.”
Miami Fire Rescue personnel took the victim to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center. Police officers arrested Jimenez and Montenegro on Sept. 29 over other robbery cases. Detectives questioned Jimenez.
“The defendant knew the victim by name and lied several times in the interview about the whereabouts of co-defendant Montenegro, but eventually stated they left the home together around the time before the incident to get something to eat,” Bellinger wrote. “The defendant claimed he went home while co-defendant Montenegro stayed out.”
Montenegro has three pending cases and two warrant cases. The other two pending cases were for armed robbery, and cocaine possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. The warrant cases were related to cocaine possession and possession of controlled substances.
Jimenez has three pending cases and a warrant case related to a hold for immigration. Two of the pending cases were for cocaine possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, and armed robbery. For the stabbing, they were both facing charges of attempted felony murder and armed robbery with a deadly weapon.
