Port Charlotte man dies in Charlotte County motorcycle crash

A 42-year-old Port Charlotte man is dead after a crash near Gasparilla Road and Keystone Boulevard in Charlotte County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened at approximately 2:57 p.m.

Troopers said an SUV was stopped on Gasparilla Road in the left turn lane, just north of Keystone Boulevard.

The motorcycle, driven by the Port Charlotte man, was going north on Gasparilla Road, south of Keystone Boulevard.

According to the report, the driver of the SUV failed to yield to traffic while making a left turn. The front of the motorcycle then collided with the right side of the SUV.

The Port Charlotte man was transported to an area hospital and later pronounced dead. Neither occupant in the SUV was injured in the crash, according to FHP.

FHP said the crash remains under investigation.
