Port St. Lucie man struck, killed by semi on I-95 Tuesday morning

Officers say a 43-year-old Port St. Lucie man was struck and killed Tuesday morning by a semi-truck on Interstate 95.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) report, the Freightliner semi-truck was driving south in the center lane of I-95 at 10:15 a.m. when it passed a stalled vehicle on the west shoulder.

The man began walking from the shoulder into the path of the Freightliner for reasons yet to be determined, according to the report.

The man was transported to Cleveland Clinic Tradition Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
