Road rage attack in North Fort Myers leaves teen injured after wrench assault

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man and woman for attacking several strangers with a wrench after a road rage incident in North Fort Myers.

One of the victims was a 16-year-old.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office arrested JB and DS as suspects.

On Sunday evening, five friends were driving a golf cart to a birthday party on Everhart Drive. Lee County deputies said suspects B and S were driving an SUV and threw a can of Sprite at the golf cart.

CL, a victim, said, “We had taken our grandfather’s golf cart up to the store to go get some drinks. And, on our way back to her parents’ house for the kid’s birthday party, we were at, a vehicle was speeding up behind us, and there was another vehicle coming at us. I was getting ready to pull off to the side of the road, and then the passenger actually threw a can of Sprite at us and hit us all in the head.”

CG, a victim, said, “We did chase after them. We exchanged words. We turned around, thought it was the end of the, you know, words exchanged. The 16-year-old threw a Red Bull out of self-defense but it missed them completely. And they turned around and started chasing us.”

Deputies said the golf cart’s tires popped, and the suspects got out of an SUV and started attacking the victims with a wrench.

L said he had to go to the hospital and get stitches after being struck in the head with a wrench four times, “I pleaded with him to stop after my hands were covered in blood.” “It kind of horrified the kids and made her little sister have a seizure. It was, it ruined the party for sure, everyone. The whole night, unfortunately.”

L said his 16-year-old cousin also suffered significant injuries, including a severely broken tooth, causing him to puke.

CG said the suspects were complete strangers. “No idea who they were. When we had caught up to her, we asked her why she did it. She said, ‘I was bored.’ She stuck her head out of the car and said, literally in a mocking voice, said, ‘I was bored.’ Now she’s bored in jail.”

L said his sister’s boyfriend managed to defend the group, striking one of the attackers with a brick. However, the suspects identified as JB and DS—managed to flee the scene but were apprehended by deputies just a street over.

B has already bonded out of the Lee County Jail.
