Royal Caribbean worker accused of placing hidden camera in cabin bathroom.

Broward County deputies arrested a Royal Caribbean stateroom attendant Sunday after they said he placed a hidden camera in a cruise ship cabin bathroom shared by a woman and her two daughters.

Arvin Joseph Mirasol, 34, was taken into custody after the Symphony of the Seas returned to Port Everglades on Sunday.

According to a Broward Sheriff’s Office arrest report, the ship left South Florida on Feb. 24 and one of the girls found the hidden camera “affixed to the counter underneath the sink” the next day.”

The woman and her daughters used the bathroom multiple times while the camera was rolling, deputies said.

Authorities said one of the victims immediately notified security officers and while they were speaking to them outside of the cabin, Mirasol showed up at the room.

According to the arrest report, security officers then detained him in a confinement room until the ship returned to South Florida.

Mirasol, whose address is listed in the report as Royal Caribbean’s PortMiami headquarters, was arrested on six counts of video voyeurism, according to jail records.

The report states federal authorities will be charging Mirasol with possession and production of child pornography.

Jail records show that he remained without bond in the BSO Main Jail as of Monday.

Local 10 News contacted Royal Caribbean seeking comment on Mirasol’s arrest. A cruise line spokesperson responded in a statement.

“We have zero tolerance for this unacceptable behavior,” the statement reads. “We immediately reported this to law enforcement and terminated the crew member, and we will continue to fully cooperate with authorities.”
