Santa Rosa Beach man dead after collision in Walton County

A Santa Rosa Beach man is dead after a crash in Walton County on Wednesday morning.

Florida Highway Patrol said the incident happened shortly before 1 a.m. on U.S. 98 near Professional Place in Miramar Beach.

According to a news release, a Santa Rosa Beach man driving an SUV rear-ended another SUV launching that vehicle forward several feet.

Inside that vehicle were a 40-year-old woman and an 18-year-old woman both from Miramar Beach who suffered minor injuries, FHP officials said.

The 46-year-old driver of the SUV who ran into the other vehicle died from his injuries, officials confirmed.

The roadway was closed for a few hours while troopers investigated however, it’s back open at this hour.
