Motorists traveling northbound on Interstate 75 experienced delays on Tuesday after a semi-truck collided with a guardrail near the exit to State Road 200.
The accident occurred on I-75 northbound, near exit 350, at around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 6.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, a semi-truck was heading northbound in the center lane, approaching the overpass at State Road 200, when the driver lost control of the vehicle.
As a result, the semi-truck veered to the right before crashing into a guardrail and bridge support. The driver and sole occupant, a 46-year-old man from New York, was not injured.
The semi-truck blocked the right lane when it came to a final rest, causing delays for those traveling in the area.
Shortly after 1:20 p.m. on Tuesday, northbound traffic on I-75 was backed up beyond mile marker 339, according to FL511. An hour later, at around 2:30 p.m., regular traffic patterns resumed on the interstate.
In addition to FHP, Ocala Fire Rescue units responded to the site of the crash and identified a fuel leak. The state warning point was notified, and absorbent materials were used to clean the spill.
An FHP trooper noted in the report that a bridge engineer was requested to inspect the State Road 200 overpass for any damage that may have been sustained during the crash.
There were no injuries reported.
