Multiple lanes of I-75 in Hillsborough County were temporarily blocked Monday afternoon after a semi-truck overturned while merging onto the highway, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened just before 2:30 p.m. on March 31, as the driver of the semi, a 68-year-old Apollo Beach man, was traveling north along the I-75 entrance ramp, north of Big Bend Road, troopers reported.

Authorities said the driver failed to negotiate a curve, causing the semi’s unloaded trailer to tip over. The trailer came to a rest on its side, lying horizontal across the roadway.

The FHP said the 68-year-old driver was not injured. It took first responders a couple of hours to clear the roadway, but it was reopened around 4:35 p.m.
