A Seminole County deputy and another driver were taken to the hospital after a rollover crash in Apopka Thursday morning.

The crash happened just after 6 a.m. on Bear Lake Road and Semoran Boulevard, according to a report from Florida Highway Patrol.

According to FHP, the 33-year-old driver was traveling eastbound on State Road 436 approaching Bear Lake Road at the same time that the Seminole County patrol car was stopped facing north in the left turn lane at the same intersection.

The deputy went to make a left turn, but FHP said the other driver did not stop for the red light. The vehicle hit the left side of the patrol vehicle, causing it to overturn.

Both the driver and the deputy were transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, FHP said.

According to the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, the deputy is “doing well.”

FHP reported that the crash blocked a few lanes in the area, but the roadblock has been cleared.

This crash remains under investigation.
