A 23-year-old man in Lake City was killed in a shooting on Monday night. Officers are working to identify the gunman.
Just before 10 p.m., a 911 caller reported someone was shot on Northwest Ashley Street. When officers arrived, they found Cristopher Alid Cruz Aleman, 23, suffering from two gunshot wounds- one in the head and one in the torso.
Officers performed CPR until EMS crews arrived, however, Aleman died at the scene.
Kelvin Emanuel, who works in the neighborhood, says he was taking out the trash when he saw the aftermath of the commotion.
“When the police pulled up I threw my hands up ‘cause I didn’t know,” he recalled. “She was like I’m not looking for you I’m just trying to figure out did you hear anything.”
Residents also pointed out a gunshot sensor a few yards away from the scene of the crime.
