Three teenagers have been accused of beating up and stealing the shoes off of a boy’s feet outside of a movie theater in Port St. Lucie.
The Port St. Lucie Police Department (PSLPD) stated that on December 28, 2024, at around 10 p.m., officers responded to a robbery at an AMC Theater located at 1900 Northwest Courtyard Circle.
Officers reported meeting with the 13-year-old victim who stated he was approached by six teenage boys as he and his girlfriend were waiting for a parent to pick them up.
The boys who approached him allegedly asked him if he would sell his sneakers to them to which he refused, after continuing to refuse to sell his shoes, three of the boys, aged 14,15, and 15, began to beat up the victim, kicking and punching him.
The victim fell to the ground, prompting the boys to steal the sneakers right off of his feet.
The girlfriend alerted a security guard patrolling the theater who then called the police. Video surveillance a witness took showed the three teens attacking the victim, and a School Resource Officer was able to identify who they were.
PSLPD stated that by January 2, the three teens were brought into custody and were accused of robbery by sudden snatching, simple battery, and petit theft.
However, the stolen shoes, valued at $550 according to PSLPD, are still missing.
