South Walton Fire District responds to vehicle fire, no injuries reported

Late Thursday afternoon, South Walton Fire District Firefighters responded to a vehicle fire west of the intersection of U.S. Highway 98 and S. County Highway 395.

SWFD said when firefighters arrived on the scene, they found a single vehicle on fire and began extinguishing the flames.

The driver of the vehicle told officials they had been flagged down by other motorist and when they pulled over, the engine compartment was on fire.

No injuries were reported, officials said. The vehicle was heavily damaged. Firefighters from SWFD Stations 2 and 3 were involved in the response, and Walton County Sheriff’s Office assisted with traffic control.
