St. Pete man accused of driving the wrong way while intoxicated: Affidavit

A man was arrested after allegedly driving the wrong way down the interstate while under the influence causing a wreck.

According to the arrest affidavit, R S, 49, was headed north on I-275 in the southbound lanes when he collided with three other vehicles.

The incident took place on January 5 in Pinellas County.

Dashcam video of the crash obtained by a Tesla that was hit shows the vehicle speeding down the road head-on into traffic.

The affidavit said that the suspect admitted he was coming from a bar where he had consumed two shots of “Don Julio” an hour prior. Hospital staff confirmed that Scott’s blood alcohol content was above the legal limit.

Two people were injured in the crash and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
