Two people were injured in a house fire in St. Petersburg on Friday evening, officials say.

Around 5:30 p.m., firefighters responded to the 5800 block of Mangrove Street North for reports of smoke coming from the home, St. Petersburg Fire Rescue said in a news release. When firefighters arrived, they found a single-family home with “light smoke” coming from the eaves.

While the engine company extinguished the fire, other crews found two victims during an initial search, the news release states: One was an adult woman in critical condition who was treated by paramedics and taken to Tampa General Hospital. The other was an adult man who was in stable condition and taken to Bayfront Health for further evaluation.

Officials said the situation was under control and that the cause of the fire was under investigation.
