Suspect arrested in connection to deadly Lake County shooting that left 20-year-old dead

An arrest has been made in connection with a July shooting in Leesburg that left a 20-year-old man dead.

James Jordan was shot on a lawn in Leesburg in broad daylight back on July 8.

Surveillance video in the neighborhood helped connect police to a car, and according to probable cause documents, the car owner’s son, 18-year-old Ondrique Mosely.

He was arrested on charges of principal to first-degree murder in connection with the shooting.

Jordan’s sister, Jayliah Jordan, says the nearly three months since it happened have been difficult for his family.

“Just waiting and having to think about it every day and just reliving it, I guess,” she said.

She said Mosely and her brother knew each other.

“What I do know is that my brother grew up playing football with Drique, and I really just don’t. I don’t understand what’s going on,” she said. “But I’m definitely ready for answers.”

According to documents from police, surveillance video from the neighborhood where the shooting happened shows three people were in the car connected to this shooting.

The document describes two separate passengers shooting Jordan multiple times. The documents say Mosely denied having the car or even being near where the shooting happened. But the documents say he admitted to being the driver on a phone call.

WESH asked the Leesburg Police Department if they are still looking for other suspects connected to this case.

They said they are still actively investigating the case and that they continue to encourage the public to contact their department or Crimeline if they know something.

Jordan’s sister encouraged people to come forward, too.

“I would just encourage them to come forward with any information,” she said. “Because Leesburg is really small. Everyone knows everyone. I’m pretty sure somebody knows exactly what’s going on.
