Suspect arrested in Tampa bar shooting on New Year’s Day, Hillsborough deputies say

 The suspect in a New Year’s Day shooting at a Tampa bar has been arrested, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office announced Saturday.

C C W, 39, was arrested by Hillsborough and Pinellas County deputies in Pinellas Park on Friday.

W is accused of fatally shooting 45-year-old J R outside the Tally Ho Bar Lounge & Grille, located at 7402 North 56th Street at around 1:43 a.m. on Jan. 1.

Deputies found R in the parking lot behind the bar with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

“Our detectives worked seamlessly with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office to bring this suspect into custody following a tragic shooting on New Year’s Day,” Sheriff C Cr said. “This arrest highlights the dedication of our deputies and detectives, as well as the importance of collaboration between law enforcement agencies. We remain steadfast in our commitment to seeking justice for those affected by senseless acts of violence and ensuring the safety and security of our communities.”

W is facing charges of premeditated first-degree murder with a firearm with great bodily harm or death and felon in possession of a firearm. He was booked in the Pinellas County Jail.
