The Fort Myers Police Department is on the scene of an officer-involved shooting at Mel’s Diner on Cleveland Avenue in Fort Myers.
FMPD is calling it a U.S. Marshals Service task force shooting and said no law enforcement or bystanders were injured as a result of the incident.
The suspect is reportedly in custody and has been taken to the hospital.
According to the U.S. Marshals Service, the suspect was identified as MS, a wanted fugitive out of Polk County.
S was wanted for grand theft (firearm), burglary, armed burglary, petit theft, grand theft and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has taken over the investigation, and FMPD will remain on the scene to help.
It is unclear what led up to the shooting.
