Suspect sought in Miramar apartment complex shooting that left man hospitalized

A man was hospitalized and a suspect was being sought after a shooting at an apartment complex in Miramar early Thursday, police said.

The shooting was reported around 7 a.m. in the 11300 block of Southwest 30th Court, according to Miramar Police.

The victim was found shot at the scene and was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital for treatment. Police didn’t release his identity or exact condition.

Video of the scene shows officers parked outside the Avalon Miramar Park Place apartments.

Miramar Police Sgt. Tiffany Roy said they received a call that the suspect fled the scene before officers arrived, and since they didn’t know if the suspect fled on foot or by car, a perimeter was set up.

Roy said police are investigating what may have led to the shooting, searching for the shooter and interviewing possible witnesses.

“When they got the 911 call they heard obviously screaming, commotion in the background,” Roy said. “They do not know how many people were on scene at the time, they don’t know if they were maybe witnesses or they were involved, they don’t have that information so they are speaking to everybody that came outside and may have witnessed it.”

This is a developing story.
