As Hurricane Debby sits in the Gulf and moves towards Florida’s Big Bend, the Tampa Bay area is already feeling its effects.
Tampa
WFLA reporter Jeff Patterson took a video of strong waves crashing over the barrier onto Bayshore Boulevard Sunday as Hurricane Debby lashes the Tampa Bay area.

The Hillsborough River is beginning to rise over the Riverwalk in Downtown Tampa as Hurricane Debby continues to impact the Tampa Bay area.
Citrus Park
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office shared photos of a downed tree and power line at Timberwood Drive and Whippoorwill Drive on Facebook.

Clearwater
Strong winds from Hurricane Debby knocked a tree over and onto a car in Clearwater. Viewer Jeremy Brodeur shared the photos.
The Clearwater Police Department showed rising water on Clearwater Beach amid Hurricane Debby. According to the police department, the flooding is located at the 300 block of South Gulfview Boulevard.
Police also showed a tree down on State Road 590 near Lori Drive, asking drivers to avoid the area.

Pasco
WFLA viewer Thomas Lumley submitted these photos of a tree that fell within a foot of his home and vehicles in Wesley Chapel on Sunday.
Dunedin
Fire officials responded to a tree falling onto a home on San Christopher Drive. A woman and some animals were inside the home, but no one was hurt.
The Red Cross was called to assist the resident.
North Port
The City of North Port said their roads are already prone to flooding and urge residents to not drive or wade through flooded streets.
Gulfport
Crews have begun placing barricades due to standing water on Shore Boulevard between 54th and 58th Street, and 29th Avenue between Tifton Drive and 46th Street South in Gulfport.
Venice
Images captured by the Florida Municipal Government in Venice show the South Jetty walkway feeling the effects of the storm.
Indian Rocks Beach
In Indian Rocks Beach, about an hour until high tide, a dock is seen partially submerged.

Bradenton

Sarasota County is urging residents to stay off the roads as many roadways throughout Siesta Key are underwater.
North Casey Key Road is shut down due to flooding.
A WFLA viewer shared this video of streets in The Lakes at McIntosh and Bahia Vista underwater as flooding affects the area.
Viewer Debbie Shaffer shared these photos showing streets completely underwater due to the storm.
Tarpon Springs
Tarpon Springs police shared a photo of water levels rising, saying the next high tide will be at 12:54 p.m. at 3.1 feet.
The Sponge Docks area has flooded and has been blocked off for traffic.

Hurricane Debby is expected to become a hurricane before it hits landfall in the Big Bend of Florida early Monday, according to the National Hurricane Center.
The storm is continuing to strengthen as it approaches the state, showing maximum sustained winds of 65 mph.
