A Tampa Police Department cruiser was involved in a crash Tuesday, the department announced.
Police said the officer was responding to an emergency call with lights and sirens active when the cruiser collided with a gray SUV at the intersection of Woodlawn Avenue and Tampa Street around 2:23 p.m.
The impact flipped the SUV, but neither driver was seriously injured, according to investigators.
Both drivers were taken to a local hospital for evaluation as a precaution.
Pictures from the scene show the cruiser with major damage to its front driver’s side and the SUV lying on its driver’s side.
Police said the intersection of Woodlawn and Tampa should reopen within the hour.
This is a developing story.
