Tampa police find woman dead under tree branch during Hurricane Milton restoration efforts

A death investigation is underway in Tampa after police say they found a woman dead during Hurricane Milton restoration efforts.

TPD says they responded at around 11 a.m. Thursday in the area of North Nebraska Avenue where their officials say a large tree branch collapsed.

Officers report they found a woman in her early 70s underneath the branch. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Although the storm has passed, its devastation has tragically taken the life of one of our community members,” Chief Lee Bercaw said in a statement. “Our thoughts are with the family as they grieve their loved one.”
